GREEN Mindanao Association Incorporated founded since 1991 by Mountaineers, ecologists, volunteers and students. Early years were engaged in advocacy, education and campaigning against illegal Logging, pollution of seas and destruction of forests. Past 25 years focused on site conservation of mountains and coastal ecosystem throughout Mindanao; supporting protected areas, marine sanctuaries and tribal land rights. At least 10 years were spent on Exploring Mountain and survey of coastal areas, birdwatching, Monitoring endangered species, tribal solidarity meetings and promotion of Conservation and Protection of wildlife and habitat. Partnership with local communities, local government and concern agencies and international organizations nurtured our legacy. Ten-year old campaign now “million hectares forest campaign” target to engage million people for Protection of mountains and tribal lands. Latest achievement nearly half of the target through divergent regimes such as; national protected areas, tribal wildlife sanctuaries and municipal protected areas. These were undertaken in alliance with DENR officials, tribal leaders, municipal and barangay councils and Civil Society partners. Past 10 years were also engaged on actions on Climate Change, disaster, recovery, rehabilitation and Management. All these efforts were interconnected, state of Nature and Oceans protected and Conserved Will determine life on earth, resilience and survival. Recent partnership with Rainforest Trust provided opportunity on Species Conservation and venture into protected area establishment and purchase of nature option.
