John is a well-known bird artist who has served as the Wildlife Conservation Society’s long-time Director of WCS’ Exhibits, Graphics and Arts Department (EGAD) and emeritus Chief Creative Officer.

During his tenure at WCS, John designed many of the most immersive, detailed and compelling habitats ever built and was instrumental in propelling a movement for zoo design that told stories, recreated specific ecosystems and gave zoo visitors a strong conservation message. John, with Dr. Robert Ridgely, co-authored Birds of Brazil: The Pantanal & Cerrado of Central Brazil.
