Dominique Bikaba

Dominique Bikaba, from the Bashi Tribe in eastern Congo (DRC), is the founding member and Executive Director for Strong Roots Congo, a human rights, conservation and sustainable development organization based in the DRC.
For over twenty-five years, Bikaba has worked to design and oversee conservation and sustainable development programs that aim to balance the needs of humans with those of forests and wildlife. A primary goal in his work is to integrate the knowledge of local communities and Indigenous peoples into effectively protected and conserved areas management. Some of Bikaba’s expertise includes development and management of great ape habitats connectivity projects for landscapes restoration in eastern DRC. Bikaba holds a Master’s degree from Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.
